We do not need to add refined sugar to our diets, sugars should be provided from fruit, vegetables and whole grain carbohydrates which give us the whole package of fibre, vitamins and minerals.


Cut back on the booze! Alcohol in particular inhibits the absorption of vitamin A by irritating the gut lining and also depleting vitamin A stores in the body. This can lead to a variety of skin problems, susceptibility to infections, night blindness and cirrhosis of the liver.


The B vitamins and magnesium are involved in the production of serotonin which helps calm the mind. In times of stress the body is in particular need of B vitamins and magnesium which are depleted during periods of stress. Therefore consuming enough on a daily basis in our diet is essential to reducing how we respond to stressful situations.


Asparagus is not just an aphrodisiac; it is also one of the richest sources of Lutin a compound which helps strengthen capillary walls which may be beneficial for improved circulation during exercise.


While the best way to avoid a hangover is not to drink, if you decide to drink; do so sensibly and within the recommended limits, which are no more than 3-4 units per day for men and 2-3 units for women.


Sleep is a must and a good eight hours a night will give optimum benefit. It has been found that those sleeping less than this develop an increased desire for sugary type foods – due to lack of energy – which can ferment in the digestive tract and cause bloating.


Always remember to drink lots of water throughout the day and try to drink before or after a meal rather than during. Drinking up to eight glasses of water a day is the best ‘laxative’ nature can provide!


We get most of our vitamin D from sunlight on our skin, which is comparable to how the single-celled green algae, Sun Chlorella® ‘A’, is rich in this natural nutrient as it is grown in natural sunlight.


Switch to wholefoods so you know exactly what is in your diet. This can easily be done by swapping your chips for a baked potato, breakfast cereals for natural oats or white bread for whole wheat bread.
